Yuma Old Threshers Index2

Very few of us remember when this sled was used to 'feed
the cattle'. Not much fun in a blizzard!
The chair is a recent addition. The driver may well have sit on
the hay 'load' being hauled in the sled.

"The Little Tractor That Could"
Not all 'track' type tractors were yellow and nicknamed
'CAT'.
This little tractor was manufactured by Oliver which is now part
of AGCO corp.
Farmers didn't seem to take well to the track tractor. The steel
tracks would
cover him with dirt and stickers but you could always find one
doing about the same
thing they do today, building roads, forestry and moving dirt.

This corn sheller must have been the commercial model, it's
fairly large!
The corn is scooped from the wagon in to the U trough which feeds
the rollers.
The long tube out the back dumps the cob while the shorter tube
'right front',
would dump into a waiting team and wagon. The loaded wagon would
be taken
to a storage area (usually a wooden grainary), then shoveled by
hand into the structure.

This wagon hoist would have been a luxury for a farmer. I would
guess this hoist
was most likely used my a commercial buyer who owned a grain
elevator. Many
of the old elevators were made of wood and sat next to rail-road
tracks just like today.
