I drove it! I like it!
The 2003 Suburban from Chevy with all wheel steering-this vehicle lives upto Chevy's 'Like A Rock' slogan.

After working late the night before, I got a call from Kent who happens to be MrTruck from the
mrtruck website. He is coming out from Denver with a 2003 Chevy 4X4 3/4ton Suburban.
He wants to know if he could use my utility trailer for an experiment! Since there aren't very many 'experiments' one can do with a trailer, I said sure!
Mrtruck pulls in, we back up to the trailer and head to the farm. Their he pulls out a box of black metal and starts bolting these gadgets to the trailer tongue. Always the skeptic he assured me he 'knew what he was doing'.
After attaching a 'load weight distribution hitch' to my old trailer we headed off to find some weight. The weight came from three round bales I carefully placed on the trailer. Then we were off, like a herd of turtles!

Well not quite. With the 'all wheel steering' feature on we turned on to the main gravel road to the highway. I could tell that the load balancing hitch was doing it's job, but the vehicle was unreal. Pushing the speed up and crusing down the pavement we did some simulated lane changes. I couldn't tell there was a trailer in tow. The 'all wheel steering' feature works two ways. If the vehicle is traveling below 40mph, the front and rear wheels turn opposite of each other making a very tight turning radius, at higher speeds the wheels turn in the same direction.
Normally when the front of the vehicle turns left, the rear moves right thus changing the path of whatever is being towed. With this Suburban's 'all wheel steering', the backend followed the front only to a lesser degree, thus the trailer follows the same path and trailer 'whip' is reduced. In our test drive we simply couldn't make the trailer 'whip', instead we were 'gliding' from one lane to another. It was an amazing experience! Turning the steering feature 'off', made the trailer whipped as usual. I highly recommend the Chevrolet 'all wheel steering' feature to anyone who pulls a bumper hitch tailer.
